ALBUM REVIEW: The Serenity of Suffering

We have been waiting a very long time to hear this album. Finally, we have it. I can't say that it's their best, but it is certainly not bad This album is their twelfth Studio release and consists of 11 tracks, each track has its own little story and we are happy to share it with you. This american Nu-metal band was formed in 1993 and has since created hits, like Freak on a leash and Falling away from me.

Their sound is inspired by the horror film's stereotypical child ghost with nursery rhyming and the child-like appeal to vocals, though their most recent release, Serenity of suffering is so much more mature and clear. Whatever they have been through as a band, it is clear in this album, that it must have been tough.

The album comes with a surprise as Slipknot front-man, Corey Taylor, features in some of the tracks. Most clearly heard in "A Different World" which has some of the typical Slipknot aesthetics. The guitar intro of "die yet another day is a great feature to the song and add some quiet eeriness that is well emphasized in the hardened chorus, which is performed well by vocalist Johnathan Davis. From Him, I just wish I could hear more of his skillful bagpipes, which gave Korn its unique sound that we have grown to love.

Let's just conclude this review by saying that Korn has brought us something that we can all very well enjoy. The lyrics are beautifully written and it all comes together with amazing melody that makes you feel ready to tackle the world's demise. Despite the name, and the theme of the album, the music isn't quite as emotional as it is inspiring and energetic.

8/10
