10 songs you need to hear before you kick it.

Music is the gate way to the soul. Lyrics pick us up when we are down, they let the tears fall when we are holding them back. Some songs are poetry in its truest form and often times these master pieces are overlooked.

Jesus does the dishes – Wingnut Dishwashers Union

A folk punk song that might sound like noise at first. But when one starts to listen to the lyrics you realise the poetic beauty of the words and the issues that are addressed.

One more soul to the call - Akira Yamaoka

A theme song for the video game Silent hill. One of the most beautifully made songs I have ever heard the vocals are angelic and the lyrics tell a story in epic fashion.

Okay I believe you but my tommy gun don’t – Brand New

Another poetic song that’s all about the lyrics. This is a song that covers any kind of emotion you might be feeling. No matter what happens in your life this song will be relatable.

Scars – Papa Roach

A classic. A perfect song for relationship problems when you are sitting in a pile of your own tears clutching a bottle of vodka. Or for anyone struggling to let go.

Audience of one - Rise Against

One of my personal favourites. A song about not being able to let go. About friendships gained and lost. This song will cause mixed emotions. Let the nostalgia flow.

Skeletons – Wednesday 13

A surprisingly deep song for a band known for gory horror themed songs. This song will make you think. We all have skeletons in our closets but they are there because we don’t want to think about them.

Rose of Sharyn – Killswitch Engage

This is Metal core and the lyrics are not always easy to hear. But look them up if you can’t hear them. This is a song for anyone who has ever lost a loved one.

XIX – Slipknot

When you feel lost, alone, walked over and outcast. You are not alone.

Far from home – Five Finger Death punch

Pure poetry. This song sparks a flurry of different emotions. It is also guaranteed to cause nostalgia. A song that can be interpreted in many ways.

Why Cry? – The panic Channel

A break up song that won’t make you feel sorry for yourself. Now that’s a Rare gem.
